Physiotherapy After Meniscus Surgery
Meniscus surgery is commonly performed to treat tears in the cartilage of the knee joint. Rehabilitation following surgery helps restore knee movement, strength and stability, and is important to ensure the knee recovers safely and returns to normal function. See also our Knee Pain page.
Early Rehabilitation
Early treatment focuses on:
- Reducing swelling
- Restoring knee movement
- Activating the muscles around the knee
Strength and Stability
As healing progresses, exercises are introduced to strengthen the muscles around the knee and improve stability. This helps patients safely return to activities such as walking, running and sport. Many patients progress through our small group rehabilitation classes.
