All the physiotherapists at Physio Solutions are experts in treating injury and pain. Each Physiotherapist has earned a university degree in Physiotherapy and are registered Chartered Physiotherapists. They have done extensive postgraduate training in many different areas. They are passionate about their work and enjoy what they do, so you can be guaranteed the highest standard of care in our comfortable and convenient facilities in the heart of Gorey.

Adrian Copeland

Chartered Physiotherapist & Clinic Owner

Adrian is a Chartered Physiotherapist and the clinic owner at Physio Solutions. He graduated from UCD in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.

Following graduation, Adrian travelled to Perth, Western Australia, where he further developed his skills in hands-on manual therapy. During this time, he completed a postgraduate certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy at Curtin University and gained valuable experience in private practice.

He returned to Ireland and established Physio Solutions in Gorey in 2008.

Clinical Approach & Areas of Interest

Adrian’s approach combines hands-on treatment with exercise-based rehabilitation, with a strong focus on achieving long-term results rather than short-term relief.

He has a particular interest in:

  • Persistent or chronic pain
  • Exercise-based rehabilitation
  • Returning clients to full function and activity

He enjoys working with a wide range of clients and gets particular satisfaction helping those who have struggled with ongoing pain or recurring injuries.

Adrian has undertaken extensive training in exercise prescription and uses a range of approaches depending on each client’s needs—from improving movement control and stability to developing strength, resilience, and performance.

Rehabilitation & Performance

Recognising the importance of exercise in recovery, Adrian developed the rehab gym at Physio Solutions to provide clients with the facilities and support needed to achieve the best possible outcomes.

His goal is to not only reduce pain, but to help clients move better, build strength, and stay injury-free long-term.

Adrian has a strong background in sports physiotherapy and has worked as Head Physiotherapist with:

  • Wexford Senior Football Team
  • Wexford Senior Hurling Team
  • Naomh Éanna GAA

He has also completed further training in:

  • Dry Needling
  • Orthotic prescription
  • Injection therapy
  • Vestibular rehabilitation

 

Outside the Clinic

Outside of work, Adrian enjoys staying active. He is a keen golfer and was Club Captain of Courtown Golf Club in 2022, where he also coaches junior golfers.

He has a background in rugby (and maintains he was once a decent player), and more recently has taken up tennis.

Adrian also enjoys gardening and beekeeping. He is an avid kitesurfer and has travelled extensively pursuing it.

Gavin Walsh

Chartered Physiotherapist

 Gavin is a highly experienced Chartered Physiotherapist who graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Teesside in 2010.

Following graduation, he moved to London where he gained extensive experience working across both the NHS and private practice settings. Since 2013, Gavin has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, developing particular expertise in the assessment and treatment of complex and persistent conditions.

In 2018, Gavin progressed to the role of First Contact Practitioner, working alongside GPs to assess and manage musculoskeletal conditions at primary care level. This role focuses on early diagnosis, expert clinical decision-making, and reducing the need for onward referrals.

He later advanced to become an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP), a role he held from 2021 to 2026, specialising in the management of complex musculoskeletal presentations.

In 2025, Gavin completed a Master’s degree in Advanced Musculoskeletal Assessment and Practice at the University of Essex, graduating with Distinction.

Gavin is also a certified Level 3 Personal Trainer and has undertaken extensive postgraduate training, including:

  • The Mulligan Concept
  • APPI Pilates
  • Injection Therapy
  • Shockwave Therapy
  • Sports Taping

This combination of advanced clinical training and strength & conditioning knowledge allows him to take a comprehensive, exercise-focused approach to rehabilitation.

Special interests: Persistent pain, spinal conditions, complex musculoskeletal injuries, return to sport.

Outside of clinical practice, Gavin volunteered as a Physiotherapist and First Aider at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. A former rugby player, he now enjoys running and is currently training for his first marathon.

Gavin has recently returned to Gorey after spending 18 years in the UK and is delighted to join the team at Physio Solutions.

Mary-Alice McArdle

Chartered Physiotherapist

Mary-Alice is a Chartered Physiotherapist with a strong background in both sports injury rehabilitation and women’s health physiotherapy.

She initially completed a degree in Athletic Therapy and Training in Dublin City University in 2012. During this time, she gained valuable experience working with athletes across a range of sports in the USA, including American Football, Baseball and Athletics.

On returning to Ireland, she worked with a number of local GAA teams, as well as Wexford Minor Football and Wexford Senior Camogie, focusing on injury rehabilitation and supporting athletes in their return to sport.

Mary-Alice later completed a second degree in Physiotherapy at University College Dublin. She began her physiotherapy career in a primary care setting in Tallaght before moving into private practice in Wicklow in 2020. Through this, she has developed broad clinical experience across:

  • Musculoskeletal physiotherapy
  • Orthopaedics
  • Neurology
  • Cardiorespiratory care
  • Paediatrics

Mary-Alice has a particular interest in Women’s Health Physiotherapy and has completed postgraduate training in this area. She supports women through all stages of life, including:

  • Pregnancy-related pain
  • Pre- and postnatal assessment and rehabilitation
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Menopause-related symptoms
  • Bladder and bowel health

She also leads Pregnancy Pilates and rehabilitation-based exercise classes, helping women build strength and confidence during and after pregnancy.

Mary-Alice is a CORU-registered Chartered Physiotherapist, APPI-accredited Pilates Instructor, Certified Athletic Rehabilitation Therapist, and holds a Certificate in Dry Needling. She is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) and the Pelvic Health and Continence group.

Outside of work, Mary-Alice has a keen interest in farming and the outdoors, and completed a Certificate in Agriculture in 2022. She enjoys playing the button accordion and concertina, and has one son, Matthew.

Emily Slaven

Chartered Physiotherapist

Emily is a highly experienced Chartered Physiotherapist with over 29 years of clinical experience in both healthcare and academic settings.

She graduated from University College Dublin in 1996 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and began her career working in the NHS in Wales. Since then, she has pursued extensive postgraduate education to support her delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.

Emily holds multiple advanced qualifications, including:

  • MSc in Physiotherapy – University of Manchester (2000)
  • MSc in Biomechanics – Ball State University, Indiana (2008)
  • PhD – Nova Southeastern University (2010)

She also completed a year-long fellowship in Manual Therapy at Duke University in North Carolina, further developing her expertise in hands-on treatment and clinical reasoning.

In 2011, Emily began her academic career at the University of Indianapolis, where she lectured in orthopaedics and manual therapy on the Doctor of Physical Therapy programme. Alongside her teaching role, she maintained an active clinical practice at Franciscan Alliance in Indiana, ensuring her work remained grounded in patient care.

Emily has extensive training in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), which focuses on understanding how movement influences pain and recovery. She places strong emphasis on detailed assessment and empowering patients to manage their symptoms through movement and education.

She has a particular interest in treating:

  • Neck pain
  • Jaw pain and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
  • Complex or persistent musculoskeletal conditions

Emily combines her academic knowledge, clinical experience, and practical approach to help patients better understand their condition and achieve long-term improvement.

Emily relocated to Gorey in December 2024 with her husband Shane and son Patrick, and is delighted to be part of the team at Physio Solutions.

Outside of work, she is a keen equestrian and competes with her horse, Oscar. She also enjoys running, staying active, and supporting her son in his soccer.

Aoife Curran

Athletic Therapist & Pilates Instructor

Aoife is a Certified Athletic Rehabilitation Therapist. She graduated from Technological University of The Shannon Midlands Midwest in 2021, During this time she gained experience in treating a variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries both in the clinical and team environment. Aoife has trained in using exercise prescription for injury rehabilitation and also in strength and conditioning for sports performance.

She has gone on to study in the area of Clinical Pilates with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (APPI). She now takes 8 Pilates classes and a cancer rehabilitation class a week here at Physio Solutions.

She joined the team here at Physio Solutions in January 2024 as and works solely in the area of exercise rehabilitation. In addition to her Pilates classes, she also see’s clients for one to one exercise rehabilitation for a variety of reasons, from medical deconditioning post illness to injury rehabilitation. She is passionate about using exercise as a form of therapy and really enjoys working with clients and seeing them progress.

In her spare time Aoife is an avid sportswoman, She plays soccer and camogie and coaches in the underage club. She is also team physio to Ballyhogue GAA club.
