Physiotherapy After Rotator Cuff Surgery
Rotator cuff repair surgery is performed to repair torn tendons in the shoulder. Rehabilitation following surgery is essential to restore shoulder movement and strength while protecting the repaired tendon during healing. See also Rotator Cuff Pain and Shoulder Surgery Rehabilitation.
Early Rehabilitation
In the early stages the shoulder is often protected in a sling. Physiotherapy focuses on:
- Gentle passive movements
- Pain and swelling management
- Maintaining movement in surrounding joints
Strengthening Phase
Once healing has progressed, strengthening exercises are introduced to restore shoulder stability and function.
Gradual progression is important to avoid stressing the repaired tendon too early. We follow your surgeon’s guidelines throughout.
